Time plays a special role in running. For some, every second counts. Others run for the experience, the atmosphere or simply for themselves. Some are chasing a new personal best, while others want to run through the heart of Basel together with friends, family or thousands of fellow runners.
That’s exactly what the 2026 Basler Stadtlauf is all about: “Run to your own rhythm.”
And somehow, this motto suits Basel particularly well. After all, our city has always ticked a little differently – quite literally. For centuries, Basel even had its own way of telling time and was, in a sense, one hour ahead of the rest of the world. A story that fits perfectly with this year’s motto.
Because there is no single right pace. No single goal and no single time that matters to everyone. What counts is what your run means to you.
Whether you’re ambitious or taking it easy, joining us for the first time or returning year after year, young or old: on 21 November, Basel once again belongs to everyone experiencing the run in their own way. Some will have their eyes firmly on the clock, while others will be taking in the festive lights of Freie Strasse, the cheering crowds and that special moment when Marktplatz comes into view.
The 2026 finisher medal also picks up on the theme of time – with a design closely connected to Basel and its unique history. We’ll reveal more about it at a later date.
One thing we can tell you already: don’t wait too long for the perfect moment to register. Due to the high demand of recent years, we expect the 2026 Basler Stadtlauf could be completely sold out by early October.
So don’t wait for the perfect time.
Run to your own rhythm. And secure your place on the start line in good time.
